This is the biggest blog of the summer so it may take some time to load, there are 87 pix and all well worth a view so be patient and see how the camping went!!! As always we camped at Walnut Grove Campground in Alfred.

We are used to the traditional start to MICP camping, hot humid weather resulting in very hot sweaty people erecting tents then a huge thunderstorm and half the tents getting flooded/washed away. This year was no different!!!!

Here are a rather damp looking crowd on Friday afternoon,

The campfire only just survived thanks to Mustapha and a lot of accelerant!!!!

To make things worse dinner got rained out so we had to settle for what should have been Saturday's lunch, and the campground had a power cut so initially our dance workshop was in jeopardy. However some batteries were found and we trekked up to the rec hall and had our hip hop dance workshop in the dark (probably a good thing!!!). Lucklily I have one really good flashgun for my camera so all is captured for you to see, it's the Jets versus the Sharks,

There was a bit of freedancing at the end, seems only the boys had the skills to step into the circle, here is Scott having some kind of seizure!!!!

It all finished with a bit of a stretching session and random dancing, we were all of course expert at this point so it looked so good!!!! I can't wait to see all the dance routines at the farewell party.

Then some of the other campers decided to show us how it should be done, although they had it easy as the electricity had been restored so they could see what they were doing!!

All was good and we headed to bed, damp tired but happy!!!!

Saturday morning had us up early, the weather looked better and we got down to our first workshop of the day, Phyllis facilitated a session on Diversity which started off with some icebreaker type games,

developed onto small discussion groups

The next part was an Art workshop reflecting Diversity, which would result in a piece of artwork to be presented to Bruce and Patti who own the campground,

A job well done everyone and we look forward to seeing it next year mounted on the wall of the rec hall.

After the workshops and lunch it was pool time, all seemed to have fun taking advantage of a good spell in the weather,

The afternoon workshop was lead by Pious who is a Muslim originally from Ghana but now lives in Portland, he gave us an interesting insight into Islam, it's teachings and how he practices it.

The group found it very interesting and asked lots of questions, as we experienced another heavy thunderstorm, what is it with the camping weather this year.

Workshops over for the day and the weather finally broke which meant we could cook dinner and have a nice evening by the campfire, here are some campfire pix, and look at those blue flames courtesy of Sam's magic crystals,

Doesn't everyone look so cosy and happy together, we all fell into our tents exhausted and less damp than Friday night....

Sunday was another day of rain, but spirits were good as we packed up camp for another year, hopefully we won't have another three days of rain storms again!!!!

Feel free to send in any camp pix you have,
